Delegates attending the ongoing Internet Governance Forum at the United Nations Offices in Nairobi raised alarm over the rise in cybercrimes and urged governments to establish strong legal safeguards to combat the practice.
The delegates were unanimous that the internet has become a channel for committing fraud, drug trafficking, terrorism and human trafficking.
Cybercrime is posing new threats to security and stability of nations, and has acquired a trans boundary scope.
Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka while opening the forum said that”cybersecurity is a mluti-stakeholder issue, which requires collaboration and coordination between governments, regional and international organizations, industry, technical community and civil society.”
