MP backs cyber security firms

CYBER security firms in Worcestershire that are keeping Britain’s secrets safe need more government support, said a local Member of Parliament (MP).
Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, praised the work of Malvern’s network of specialist technology firms during a visit by cyber security minister James Brokenshire to the area on Tuesday.
But she urged the minister to invest money in the sector and help firms overcome red tape in the clunking procurement system.
The closed meeting at town firm QinetiQ was a chance for company bosses to tell Mr Brokenshire how the Government can help the industry.
Mrs Baldwin also urged the minister to release some of the £650 million earmarked for the sector to help firms invest and grow, creating more jobs, while smaller companies were keen for easier access to government contracts.
“There are many local small businesses emerging to take on the challenges of becoming the next QinetiQ,” she said.
