SMU to open new information security course

A new undergraduate course in Singapore Management University (SMU)'s School of Information Systems, will soon provide students with skills in information security management.
It will also ensure that there will be a ready supply of trained cyber security professionals to build, maintain and monitor Singapore's cyber security systems as the first line of defence against cyber threats.
The course will provide training in threat assessment as well as intrusion detection, and response and recovery.
To be developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), it will offer additional ways to explore and investigate how cyber security systems can be applied to real-life situations.
According to a memorandum of understanding signed yesterday, both parties will also collaborate on information security research and development projects.
Thesee initiatives are in line with Singapore's national efforts to beef up the talent pool of cyber security professionals to support the increasing demand for such expertise.
